I started my Water Series in 2011. Water is the source of all life and my personal obsession with water started with motherhood. Later, I have returned to it from the perspective of the climate crisis and the importance of preserving the oceans as important ecosystems, carbon sinks, temperature regulators and beautiful landscapes. The sea was already there before us and will be there after us. It is a mystery and a necessity. An abyss were migrant lives are lost and a mirror for our dreams.

These works combine found materials such as baking cups or kitchen paper with exquisite Japanese rice paper. I use a combination of watercolour and acrylic inks, raw pigment powder and oil pastels to create expressive marks, some of which are found words in poems, often in my native Spanish. Layers are visible, as the works have gone through several stages in their construction.
